Pablo Cabado was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 17 he moved with his family to Mexico City, where he studied photography at the Escuela Activa de Fotografia (Active School of Photography) and the Consejo Mexicano de Fotografia (Mexican Counsil of Photography) where he attended the Taller de los Lunes (coordinated by Pedro Meyer). In 1989 he won the Young Photographer of the Year award in the International Center of Photography, (New York, USA).

Between 1990 and 1997 he works in his project about Cuba, and during this time he travels constantly to the island staying for long periods of time in La Habana. During 1992 he lives in France for several months and joins the Agence Vu.

In 1998 his first book Illustratives, Cuba the 90s is published (Ed. La Marca. Buenos Aires – Hong Kong).

His work has been showed in individual and collective exhibits in USA, France, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, etc. Among others distinctions he has received the Young Photographer of the year, Infinity Award, ICP, New York; Mother Jones Documentary Photography Award, the grant from Fundación Antorchas (Argentina, 1994); the grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (Argentina, 1999); the Gran Premio de Honor del Salon Nacional de Artes Visuales (Argentina 2000); and in the year 2002, the John Simon Guggenheim fellowship (USA, 2002).

Now he lives and works in Argentina. He photographs with a large format camera (8x10"and 4x5") and travels in his Ford Falcon 1971.
